India, on Friday administered 2 crore Covid vaccinations in a day for the first time as the government delivered a record on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday. The one crore-mark was crossed by the afternoon.
The government set out with a target of 2.5 crore vaccinations. Ministers and BJP leaders have put out tweets urging more to get their shots.
The vaccination campaign is key to the BJP's three-week celebrations to mark the Prime Minister's birthday.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya had tweeted urging people to get their jabs as a birthday gift to PM Modi
BJP had prepped health volunteers ‘to ensure that the maximum number of people get their COVID-19 vaccines on the day’.
The government has also added a ticker to show vaccinations happening in near real-time. National Health Authority chief RS Sharma tweeted the tracker as he celebrated the achievement.
