Everyone recommends eating fruits and vegetables every day but a study from Harvard University claims to have found just how many you need to eat every day to extract the maximum benefits!
The study released by the American Health Association finds that eating two servings of fruit and three servings of vegetables daily could be the key to living a long life.
The study's lead author said that 'this amount likely offers the most benefit in terms of prevention of major chronic disease and is a relatively achievable intake for the general public.'
But some fruit and veg seem to fare better than the others. The team says that green leafy vegetables, including spinach, kale and lettuce, as well as vegetables rich in beta carotene and citrus fruits and berries exhibited the most benefit in fighting disease.
For the purpose of this research, the team followed over 100,000 adult participants from 1984 to 2014.
