The Mumbai civic body has issued new rules to monitor travellers from 'at risk'  and 'high risk' countries who are under home quarantine.

Local civic officials will call people under home quarantine five times a day and also physically visit them to ensure Covid-19 protocols are being followed. A notice will also be sent to housing societies to ensure that home quarantine rules are being followed by such passengers.

They will be asked to undergo a RT-PCR test on the seventh day of home isolation and if they test positive they will shifted to a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation facility.

Anyone found to be in violation of these rules will be booked under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and Epidemic Act, 1897.

The BMC announced these rules after incidents of passengers from 'at risk' being untraceable emerged from other cities.
