60,000 babies were born in India on New Year's Day: UNICEF

Nearly 60,000 babies will be born in India on New Year’s Day 2021, making it the country with the highest number of births across the globe. UNICEF estimates nearly 371,504 babies to be born on New Year's Day worldwide. 52% of the total global births will take place in just 10 countries. UNICEF also estimates that 140 million children are most likely to be born this year, with an average life expectancy of 84 years. In India, however, the life expectancy will be 80.9 years.
