60,000 Covid cases in 24 hours, lowest in 75 days, deaths also down

Continuing with a downward trend, India saw a sharp decline in daily Covid-19 cases on Tuesday. 60,471 cases reported in the last 24 hours is the lowest daily spike in 75 days. This is for the eighth successive day that the country has seen less than 100,000 fresh infections in a day.

Daily Covid deaths, which were hovering around 4,000, have also seen a dip. India logged 2,726 deaths due the virus in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry dashboard on Tuesday morning. Total deaths due to the contagion now stand at 3.77 lakh.

The number of active Corona cases has come down to just over 9 lakh. This is the 33rd day straight where the daily recoveries continued to outnumber the new cases.

The recovery rate has climbed up to 95.64%, and positivity rate currently stands at a low of 4.39%.
