Manchester City continued its dominant run in the premier league and thrashed Newcastle United 4-0 on Sunday night to extend their winning run in the league to 8 games.
Ruben Dias put City ahead in just the 5th minute. He has scored twice this season, with both goals coming in December. Cancelo doubled the lead before Riyad Mahrez scored his 50th Premier League goal for the club in the 63rd minute. Raheem Sterling then made it 4-0 as the hosts failed to find the back of the net even once.
Thus, City ended at the top of the Premier League on Christmas for only the third time. Interestingly, on both previous occasions, they went on to become champions.
