Actor Kal Penn has come out as gay and revealed that he is engaged to his partner of 11 years, Josh.
In an exclusive interview with People magazine, the 'Designated Survivor' actor said he discovered his sexuality 'relatively late in life' and he was 'fortunate' to be 'supported by everyone'.
Kal Penn said, "There’s no timeline on this stuff. People figure their s*** out at different times in their lives, so I’m glad I did when I did."
The actor is all set for the launch of his memoir, 'You Can't Be Serious', where he address the issue in greater detail. In the book, the 44-year-old has opened up about his relationship with Josh, who is only being referred to with his first name to protect his identity.
Kal Penn has featured in brief roles in various sitcoms like 'The Big Bang Theory' and 'How I Met Your Mother' among many others.
He also spent two years working in the White House for the Barack Obama administration. He was the principal associate director in the White House Office of Public Engagement between 2009 and 2011.
