Adar Poonawalla, CEO of the Serum Institute of India, on Sunday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech at the United Nations General Assembly on Covid-19 vaccines.

Poonawalla added it was clear that his arrangements for India will take care of all needs for the Indian people. This comes after he had asked the government if they had ₹80,000 crore to buy and distribute the vaccine to everyone in the country.

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has also lauded Modi's assurance that India will use its vaccine production capacity in helping nations fight Covid-19. He said the pandemic can be defeated only by mobilising resources for common good.
