Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Science has reported a case of Covid-19 induced brain nerve damage that has caused blurred vision in an 11-year-old girl, the first such case of neurological damage in the paediatric age bracket due to coronavirus.

The MRI of the patient showed Acute Demyelinating Syndrome, a neurological condition that damages nerves and affects several neurological functions such as vision and muscle movement. She was discharged after she regained 50% of her vision through immunotherapy.

The Head of the Child Neurology Division of the Padeiatric Department, Dr Sheffali Gulati said that they now know the the virus chiefly affects the brains and the lungs and they will publish the case report soon.
