Air pollution is the biggest killer in India, according to a new study. Air pollution killed an estimated 1.67 million people in India in 2019, according to the The Global Burden of Disease Study, published in the Lancet journal on Friday. The other top risk factors for death in India are hypertension, tobacco use, poor diet and high blood sugar levels.
