Vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane is all set to lead Team India in the first Test against New Zealand in Virat Kohli's absence.
According to a report in the Times of India, Rohit Sharma has been rested for both the tests while Virat Kohli will return to lead the side from the second Test. The report added that there was a lengthy discussion between the selectors on who should lead the side in Kohli's absence. It was later decided that the new full-time T20I skipper, Rohit, needed to be given a longer break and he was hence rested for the 2 Test matches.
India's 1st Test vs New Zealand starts on November 25 at the Greenpark Stadium in Kanpur.
