Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Lucknow Police took Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav in custody on Monday morning from outside his residence. The former CM sat on a dharna outside his house after he was stopped from leaving for Lakhimpur Kheri where 8 people, including four farmers, were killed in violence on Sunday.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the UP government was trying to cover-up the Lakhimpur incident and thus was not allowing political leaders to visit the area. "What is govt trying to hide," he asked.
The SP chief has demanded a two crore compensation for the farmers killed in violence and a murder case against the accused.
