Al-Sadd announced on Friday that Xavi will leave the Qatari Club to become Barcelona's new head coach.
In a statement, Al-Sadd said that they have agreed on Xavi’s move to Barcelona after the payment of the release clause of around €5m stipulated in the contract. Xavi, who won eight La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues as a player with Barca, said on Wednesday he was "looking forward to going home" after coaching the Qatari club for 3 years. The Spaniard had 2 years left to run on his contract with Al-Sadd.
Xavi will replace Ronald Koeman, who was sacked after Barcelona's poor show in both La Liga and the Champions League.
