Ali Khan has become the first American cricketer to be picked up by an IPL franchise, as the Kolkata Knight Riders roped in the Pakistan-born pacer as a replacement for an injured Harry Gurney. The 29-year-old was a part of KKR's sister franchise Trinbago Knight Rider's squad which won 12 consecutive games this season to win their 4th Caribbean Premier League title. Ali Khan picked up 8 wickets from as many matches with an economy rate of 7.4 in the CPL. KKR open their IPL campaign on September 23 against the Mumbai Indians.
