As farmers continue to hold protests against Centre's new farm sector bills, BJP's ally, the Akali Dal, has directed its MPs to vote against the three bills in the Rajya Sabha. In June, the Centre had issued three ordinances related to farm trade, pricing, farm services and essential commodities. The farmers' unions have termed these bills as worse than coronavirus and have warned that any MP who supports the bills will not be allowed to enter villages. The BJP has claimed that the bills are "far sighted" and will boost agricultural produce and help farmers get better price for their produce.
