Just days after a group of Nihang Sikhs brutally killed a daily wage labourer at the farmers' protest site near the Delhi-Haryana border, another man has been attacked at the Singhu protest site.
A man from the Nihang community has been arrested for assaulting a chicken seller. The victim was assaulted after he refused to give the chicken for free to the accused, police said.
The accused has been identified as Naveen from Karnal, a Nihang Sikh. He reportedly broke the victim's leg with a rod after an argument over free chicken.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon when one Manoj Paswan was carrying some chickens on a cart for a delivery. The police said the accused asked the chicken seller to give him a chicken, and when he refused, an argument broke out.
This is the second incident of violence by members of the Nihang sect at the Singhu border farmers' protest site. A Dalit daily wage labourer Lakhbir Singh was brutally killed at the site last week and his body was strung to a police barricade with a hand chopped off and multiple wounds caused by sharp-edged weapons.
