India on Wednesday recorded another jump of more than 78,000 coronavirus cases and over 1,000 deaths in the last 24 hours, health ministry data released on Wednesday morning showed. A spike of 78,357 cases took the nationwide tally to over 37.6 lakh and 1,045 deaths pushed the number of fatalities to over 66,000. The number of active cases has crossed 8 lakh and over 29 lakh people have so far recovered from the virus. While the recovery rate has risen close to 77 per cent, the case fatality rate has further dropped to 1.77 per cent, the health ministry said.
