Amid speculation around opposition efforts to cobble a joint front against the PM Modi-led BJP govt, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has provided a booster shot to sinking Congress.

The RJD leader, in an interview to NDTV, has said that any opposition front for the 2024 election without Congress would be "unimaginable".

Noting that the Congress is in direct contest with the BJP in over 200 Lok Sabha seats, Tejashwi said that the Congress has to be the base of any opposition front.

He, however, added that wherever regional parties are strong, they need to be in the driving seat.

Several opposition parties, including Sharad Pawar's NCP and Shiv Sena, have echoed a similar sentiment recently on Congress being the main part of the opposition's 2024 efforts.
