Apple launches new MacBook Pro powered by M1 Pro, M1 Max chipsets, along with 3rd-gen AirPods

Apple has launched new MacBook Pro models at its October 18 ‘Unleashed’ event. The laptops are available in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, and are powered by the new M1 Max and M1 Pro chipsets.

The new Apple Silicon chips are much more powerful than the Apple M1, with the M1 Pro featuring an up to 10-core CPU and up to 16-core GPU coupled with up to 32GB RAM. The M1 Max, meanwhile, takes that further to a 32-core GPU, and up to 64GB RAM. Both laptops also come with up to 8TB storage.

The new MacBook Pro models see the return of HDMI and SDXC card slot ports, along with a MagSafe 3 fast charging adapter. The touchbar is now gone, and replaced with a row of function keys. The laptops also feature three Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Both laptops get a Liquid Retina XDR display with Mini-LED technology, and benefit from ProMotion high refresh rates up to 120Hz. The display area in both laptops extends to the edge on all sides, apart from an iPhone-style notch in the top bezel that houses the new 1080p webcam.

The 14-inch MacBook Pro gets a claimed 17-hour video playback time battery life, while the 16-inch model can keep going for 21 hours.

In India, the 14-inch MacBook Pro is available starting from ₹1,94,900, while the 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chipset starts from ₹2,39,900. Both laptops come with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage as base. The 16-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chipset, along with 32GB RAM and 1TB storage, starts from ₹3,29,900. All models are available to order now.

Apple also launched the 3rd-generation AirPods, which feature an all-new design styled after the AirPods Pro. The new AirPods get sweat and water resistance, and force sensor touch controls. They are powered by a new low-distortion driver, and get up to 30 hours of battery life with the included wireless charging case. In India, the 3rd-gen AirPods are priced at ₹18,500, and will be available from October 26.

And finally, Apple also launched new blue, yellow, and orange colours for the HomePod mini wireless speaker. The new colours will be available starting late November, for a price of ₹9,900.
