Apple has said that it will loosen its payment rules, and allow apps like Netflix to provide customers a link to create a paid account on their website.

This transaction will bypass Apple’s in-app purchase commissions, something the company had disallowed until now.

The concession was made in an agreement with the Japan Fair Trade Commission, although it will apply globally.

However, transactions in the app itself are still not allowed to use their own payment processing and bypass Apple’s commission, a practice which is being legally challenged by Epic Games, Spotify, and dating service Match.

Spotify said in a statement that this fix does not solve all their issues with Apple.
