The Assam unit of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday addressing a press meet at Dispur press club said that Delhi chief minister and party leader Arvind Kejriwal will not visit Assam for election campaign nor will support any regional party.
The party’s state unit also revealed that AAP will not contest in the upcoming Assam assembly polls.
The AAP cleared that their party leader has no such intention of visiting the state or supporting other parties.
Speaking to the media, AAP State coordinator Bhaben Choudhury said, “Regional parties cannot fight against CAA alone, they need help from central government. Because of that reason, regional parties may be seeking support from us, but we are not sure. In the present situation, we cannot support any regional political party and Arvind Kejriwal will not visit Assam. If we contest the election we will surely form the government. We always oppose CAA. We were ready to contest from 50 constituencies but the discussion with other new parties was not fruitful and we don’t want to contest in the upcoming election."
