The Bombay High Court has adjourned the bail hearing of Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan to Thursday. This essentially means that the court has just two days to give an order on the 23-year-old's bail, before it breaks for Diwali.
The High Court goes on a Diwali vacation and resumes operations only on November 15. If Aryan doesn't bail by Friday, he stays in jail till November 15. The NCB in court reportedly alleged, that Shah Rukh Khan's manager Pooja Dadlani is trying to influence witnesses in the case.
Hearing of bail applications filed by Arbaaz Merchantt and Munmun Dhamecha also adjourned for Thursday.
Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi questioned Aryan's arrest memo, saying that an accused can't be kept in custody for so many days for just consumption. Rohatgi added, the law requires that the NCB must give true and correct grounds for arrest. In the case of Aryan Khan, says Rohatgi, the arrest memo refers to items which were never even recovered from him.
Advocate Amit Desai, said, there has been enough custody of the two boys, and that Aryan and Arbaaz are residents of Mumbai and hence they are available to the NCB whenever they want. He added, keeping Aryan in jail is a direct infringement of constitutional guarantees.
