Asia Cup once again bears the brunt of Covid-19 as the 2021 edition of the T20 tournament due to be held in Sri Lanka in June has been called off because of the worsening coronavirus crisis in the region.

Sri Lanka Cricket chief executive Ashley de Silva told reporters that the event might have to be put back until after the 2023 50-over World Cup because most teams have already planned schedules for the next two years.

The Asian Cricket Council had to postpone the 2020 edition and it was rescheduled to take place in Sri Lanka this year.
