Thousands of Afghans thronged the Kabul airport on Monday hoping to fly out of Afghanistan as Taliban gained control of the war torn country. At least five people were killed amid reports of heavy gunfire at Kabul airport, news agency Reuters reported quoting witnesses.
Earlier in the day, US troops fired in the air in an attempt to disperse the crowd desperate to climb into a plane.

Meanwhile, the Afghan airspace has been closed and a notice to airmen has been issued to say Kabul airspace is no longer usable.
