David Warner stood tall and guided Australia to a clinical 8-wicket win over the West Indies with 22 balls to spare and are now through the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021.
Put into bat, The Windies managed 157/7, captain Kieron Pollard leading the way with a score of 44. Chasing which, Australia lost Aaron Finch early but a 124-run stand between Warner and Mitchell Marsh took The Aussies over the finish line. Warner remained unbeaten on 89. Marsh was out for 53 off the penultimate ball of the innings. He fell victim to Chris Gayle, who then had a special celebration.
While Dwayne Bravo retired from international cricket, it was the last World Cup game for Gayle, who is likely to retire in front of his home fans in Jamaica soon.
