Be noisy, get fined a ₹1 lakh says Delhi Pollution Control Committee

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has announced an amendment in the fine amount for creation of noise pollution.  According to the amendment, people can be fined up to Rs 1 lakh now.

The new rule states that individuals will be fined Rs 1,000 for burning firecrackers after the stipulated time is in residential and commercial areas and Rs 3,000 in silent zones.

If the firecracker rules are violated at a rally, wedding or religious festival, the organiser of the event is liable to pay Rs 10,000 in residential and commercial areas and up to Rs 20,000 in silent zones. 2nd time defaulters will be fined 40,000.

If the rules are violated more than twice, a fine one Rs 1 lakh will have to be paid and the area will be sealed, as per the amended rules..
