Bengal: Farmers protest-themed Puja Pandal sends social message

A Durga Puja pandal has come up with the theme of farmers protest in West Bengal's Dumdum Park locality.

With winged tractors at the entrance, the pandal can be seen decorated with slippers, dilapidated rags and huge footprints. Interestingly, the footprints display innumerable faces representing the oppression of peasants.

Goddess Durga is portrayed as the mother of nature and can be seen in a paddy field inside the mandap.

Pratik Chowdhury, general secretary of the Puja committee, said that the pandal had no political motive and the theme has been chosen to send out social messages about what is happening in the country.
