Bengal polls: Tension in Cooch Behar, 5 dead as BJP & TMC workers clash

At least 5 people have died in West Bengal's Cooch Behar in separate incidents, after clashes broke out between the BJP, Trinamool Congress workers.

Amid voting for the fourth phase of assembly election in West Bengal, clashes broke out at Sitalkuchi of Cooch Behar where bombs being hurled outside a polling station.

The state Election Commission has confirmed that the four people died due to firing by CISF forces. The poll panel has now asked the state govt for a detailed report. The TMC claims that those killed were TMC supporters and alleged JP hand in it.

At least 187 companies of central forces, the highest deployment of forces among poll-bound districts in the phase, are in Cooch Behar, which has witnessed sporadic incidents of violence.
