The West Bengal government has filed an affidavit against the NHRC report on the post-poll violence in the state and said the rights panel has shown its bias.

Mamata Banerjee led TMC government accused the NHRC of exceeding its mandate.

In its affidavit to the high court the state government has said that the NHRC team was "fraught with bias against the ruling dispensation in the State of West Bengal".

Bengal government has further said that the members of the Committee have "close association with BJP or the Centre and that such members were "deliberately chosen" since they have ‘an inherent bias against the ruling dispensation’ in the state. It also alleged that the rights team was ‘predisposed to give a negative report against the state about law-and-order situation in Bengal’
