As the Opposition raises the stakes over the three contentious farm bills, more than two dozen farmer organisations have extended their support to the 'Bharat Bandh' call on Friday, September 25, to protest against the farm Bills passed by Parliament.

31 farmer bodies in Punjab and Haryana cutting across party lines are already protesting against the farm Bills. Farmer organisations such as All India Farmers Union (AIFU), Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), and others will join the protest.

Farmers’ bodies from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra have also called for a shutdown on September 25. Ten Central trade unions, have also come out in support of bandh.

18 political parties that met the President on Wednesday urged him not to give assent to these Bills.
