India has registered the biggest one-day spike of over 96,000 new coronavirus cases. According to the health ministry data released on Friday morning, the country recorded a whopping 96,551 coronavirus cases in 24 hours taking the total number of infections to over 45.6 lakh. The country also recorded the highest deaths in a day with 1,209 fatalities. The total number of deaths due the virus has crossed 76,000. There are now over close to 9 and a half lakh active infections in the country while over to 35 lakh have so far recovered from the contagion.
