Soon after the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday announced the names of 148 candidates for the last four phases of the West Bengal assembly polls that begin from March 27, protests broke outside many offices of the saffron party with cadre burning flags and shouting slogans.
The angry cadre, who said TMC turncoats facing corruption charges have been given tickets, protested outside the BJP’s main office in capital Kolkata.
Reports said the disgruntled BJP cadre damaged the party office in Malda’s Shahpur and burnt tyres on the Nara Gola highway. Similar reports of protests were also reported from Jagaddal.
BJP supporters also held as protest in front of party office in Ranaghat and in Durgapur East they locked the party office.
