Days after dead bodies of suspected Covid patients were found floating on the Ganga river in eastern UP and Bihar, multiple bodies have been found buried in sand on two locations by the Ganga in UP's Unnao. Visuals show most of the bodies were wrapped in a saffron cloth.

District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar told mediapersons that one of the locations is a major cremation spot and that there is no confirmation that these bodies were of Covid patients.

The DM added that Some people do not burn the bodies but bury them in the sand by the river. Administration has started an inquiry into the incident.

On Thursday morning, a team of officials reached the location and dug much deeper pits and buried the bodies again at the same spot.
