As Covid-19 regulations ease in Melbourne, officials are expecting a crowd of more than 80,000 spectators in the stadium for the Boxing Day Test match in the upcoming Ashes series. The Test series between England and Australia is set to start in Brisbane on December 8th, and the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the third test match which will begin on 26th December. Melbourne reopened on Friday after 260 days of lockdown since the pandemic began.

Victoria State Premier Dan Andrews is determined to get the city back to normal as Melbourne is nearing to its 80% vaccination rate target. The crowd capacity for last year's Boxing Day test against India was limited to just 30,000 a day.
