Steered by International Olympic Committee's idea to avoid rival bids, Brisbane was chosen as the winner to host the 2032 Summer Olympics. The Australian city was the single entry for the 35th edition of the Summer Games which was in tune with IOC's new approach where the organisation picks the potential candidates uncontested.

Interestingly, the new process where the control sits with the IOC was designed to cut down campaign costs, give the IOC more control and remove the risk of vote-buying.

The Summer Olympics will return to the Australian shores for the first time since 2000 when the Games were hosted by Sydney. The events will be held across the state of Queensland, including Gold Coast, which hosted the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
