With December coming up, it means one major event for K-Pop fans - the annual Mnet Asian Music Awards. K-Pop idols from all companies are invited to celebrate all their hard work during the year. There have already been rumors about the guests scheduled to appear at the event, including K-Pop acts such as BTS, TWICE, and NCT 127 as well as international acts like Japanese idol group AKB48 and Canadian singer Justin Bieber.
While it was expected that industry bigwigs like BTS, IU, NCT and their subunits will garner multiple nominations, fans were surprised to see some names left out of the list.
SM's Taemin who is currently serving in the military missed out on a nomination and so did EXO who released a mini album in May 2021. Fans were equally shocked that popular groups like Ateez and The Boyz didn't make the cut for MAMA 2021.
