Fast food chain Burger King has apologised after it came under fire for a tweet on International Women's Day that read 'women belong in the kitchen'.

The tweet was a part of an initiative being launched by Burger King to increase the representation of women in head-chef roles.

The tweet, however, didn't go down well with Twitterati. Some even threatened to stop eating at the burger chain.

After the backlash, Burger King UK apologised for the tweet stating that 'they would do better next time'.
