As the tussle between online food aggregators and restaurants keeps going on, about 400 outlets across brands have delisted themselves from Swiggy’s table-booking platform Dineout.
Hundreds of A-list restaurants, including Cafe Delhi Heights, Smoke House Deli, and Mamagoto, have opted out of Swiggy Dineout in recent weeks, following through on a campaign that threatens to put a key driver of the foodtech platform’s growth on shaky legs.
The restaurant chains, largely in the casual dining space, say that Dineout’s heavy discounts and cashbacks on in-restaurant dining services further hurts the already battered restaurant industry.
A majority of these businesses are members of the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI).
For over a year, the restaurant industry has been struggling because of covid-related restrictions and rising costs due to food inflation.
