The 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report' by Microsoft and LinkedIn has revealed that the about 75% of global knowledge workers are utilising Artificial Intelligence in their workplaces. Knowledge workers represent those employees who work at desk either from home or office.
As per the report, employees dependence on Artificial Intelligence has increased to maintain the rapid pace and volume of work. While leaders acknowledge AI's significance to business, many feel their organisations lack a clear strategy to utilise AI effectively for tangible results.
The survey revealed that 90% of AI users stated it saved them time, 85% focused on critical tasks, 84% felt more creative, and 83% enjoyed their work more after using AI. While 79% of company leaders agree that AI adoption is essential for competitiveness, 59% expressed concerns about quantifying its productivity gains.
The report also revealed that 45% of employees worry about AI replacing their jobs, while 46% are considering quitting jobs for better opportunities. As per LinkedIn, in US there has been a 14% increase in job applications per role since last fall while 85% of professionals contemplating a job change this year.
Interestingly, 66% of employers and company leaders revealed that they wouldn't hire someone lacking AI skills, with 71% preferring less experienced candidates with AI skills over more experienced ones without them. In conclusion, the report mentioned that AI is aiding people to be more creative and productive, giving job seekers an advantage, and will eventually transform all aspects of work.
