Air passengers unhappy with Air India, Vistara’s delays and Indigo’s staff attitude: Survey

Passenger dissatisfaction with major airlines in India has been laid bare by a recent survey, highlighting significant concerns regarding timeliness and staff attitude. According to the survey conducted by LocalCircles, 69% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with the timeliness of Air India and Vistara flights.

The survey, which garnered over 47,000 responses from flyers across 302 districts in India, underscores a widespread problem plaguing the aviation sector.

Issues related to maintenance, staff behaviour, and baggage handling were among the top grievances reported by passengers. A notable 55% of respondents traveling with Air India flagged concerns regarding aircraft maintenance, while 38% cited problems with staff attitude and courteousness.

Transparency during flight delays or cancellations also emerged as a significant issue, with 38% of passengers reporting inadequate information.

SpiceJet, another major player in the industry, faced similar criticism with 59% of respondents citing timeliness as a major concern. Additionally, issues with baggage handling and transparency during disruptions were highlighted by a considerable portion of passengers.

IndiGo, often lauded as the market leader, did not escape criticism either. Nearly half (46%) of passengers surveyed expressed dissatisfaction with the attitude and courteousness of IndiGo staff. This finding indicates a need for improved customer service standards across the board.

New entrants like Akasa Air also faced scrutiny, with 75% of passengers flagging issues with customer service and 50% citing timeliness as a major problem.

The survey's respondents represented a diverse demographic, with 66% men and 34% women participating. Furthermore, respondents hailed from various tiers of cities, with 46% from tier 1, 30% from tier 2, and 24% from tier 3, 4, and rural districts.

As the aviation industry strives to recover from the challenges posed by the pandemic, addressing these concerns will be crucial for restoring passenger confidence and ensuring a positive travel experience for all.
