After laying off several hundred employees in its streaming and studio operations last week, Amazon has announced a workforce reduction of less than 5% in its Buy with Prime unit.

Launched in 2022, Buy with Prime extends the membership’s perks to third-party merchants selling and shipping goods on other sites.

According to Engadget reports, the recent decision to reduce a small percentage of staff resulted from a routine assessment of the company's operational needs. Although the exact number of affected employees was not disclosed, an insider source indicated to Engadget that approximately 30 individuals were impacted by the layoffs.

The report further highlight that the "Buy with Prime" initiative remains a high priority, highlighting its widespread adoption by merchants and positive customer feedback. Despite the reduction in workforce, the company reassured its commitment to allocating substantial resources to enhance and expand the "Buy with Prime" program, capitalizing on its current success.

This announcement follows a series of job cuts at Amazon, totaling more than 27,000 since late 2022.
