McDonald's has announced that it is has dropped tomatoes from its menu temporarily. The fast food giant claims that they are unable to get tomatoes that pass their quality checks currently.
In a statement issued on July 7, the spokesperson of McDonald's India - North and East said that the fast food chain is "constrained to serve tomatoes" in its menu items due to "seasonal issues.", as per reports.
Meanwhile, Burger King is serving tomatoes in restaurants currently. A statement by the chain says "We do have challenges on availability but will continue to make available to guest as long as quality is good. Currently we have tomatoes in our restaurants."
Tomato prices have been rapidly surging across the country. They have surged to ₹140 per kilogram in Delhi and crossed ₹150 per kilogram in Mumbai. In fact, in some cities tomatoes have even crossed ₹200 per kilogram.
