You can no longer add your Indian debit or credit card to your Apple account for subscription payments and app purchases, why? Because of the new auto-debit rules from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) that came into force last year and is disrupting recurring online transactions.
"Regulatory requirements in India apply to the processing of recurring transactions. If you hold an Indian debit or credit card and you have a subscription, these changes impact your transactions. Some transactions might be declined by banks and card issuers," the company said on its support page detailing the update.

What comes as a hit to companies partnering with Apple, even ad campaigns on Apple search can’t be run using any Indian cards. Apple however has given the option to use UPI for all transactions but users have reported issues with it as well.
