CNN's brand-new streaming service, CNN+, is shutting down only a month after launch. In a memo circulated informing employees, incoming CNN chief executive Chris Licht said the service would shut down at the end of April.

Subscription numbers for CNN Plus are not publicly available but reports indicate that fewer than 10,000 people were using CNN Plus daily. Subscriptions to the platform cost $6 per month or $60 per year. Customers will receive prorated refunds, according to CNN.
The company’s risky bet of asking people to pay a subscription for live and on-demand news programming and other content failed. Competitive streaming landscape, saw streaming giant Netflix lose 200,000 subscribers as well in the first three months of the year.

Licht, said some CNN+ content will wind up on other company networks, and the streaming service's employees will get opportunities to apply for jobs elsewhere inside Warner Bros. Discovery. The head of CNN+, Andrew Morse, is leaving the company.
