Coinbase has initiated a robust expansion of its employee base in India, persisting in its recruitment drive despite ceasing services in the country at the end of October, as per a Moneycontrol report.
The company's focus on filling pivotal product and technology positions spread across remote work setups as well as the thriving tech hubs of Bengaluru and Hyderabad
This move aligns with Coinbase's earlier declaration to establish a significant business presence in India by establishing a dedicated office. The company is actively seeking adept candidates capable of enhancing the operations of the US-based cryptocurrency exchange.
The company is actively recruiting for various positions including software engineers, engineering managers specializing in platform-payments, data scientists, and vendor management analysts, among others. Although the exact count of new hires remains undisclosed, the company has posted approximately 30 open positions on its LinkedIn page in the last three weeks, reported moneycontrol.
Coinbase has faced challenges during its tenure in India, grappling with high taxes imposed on cryptocurrency gains in the country and encountering obstacles in enabling UPI-based payments for crypto transactions on its platform.
