Crypto crowdfunding for Ukraine, over $8 billion collected as Russia continues aggression

Crypto comes to the rescue for Ukraine as it battles Putin's invasion. Ukraine's official Twitter account made the appeal for cryptocurrency donations and the response has been overwhelming. 

Reports indicate that over $8 billion have been collected inbitcoin and other digital tokens. Ukraine's Vice-Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov who is also there Digital Transformation Minister urged people to show their solidarity for Ukraine by donating in crypto.

According to blockchain analysis company Elliptic over 11,500 donations of crypto were sent amounting to $8 billion in just under 48 hours. 

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin put his country’s nuclear deterrence forces on high alert Sunday amid a growing global backlash against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. EU has retaliated by closing it's airspace to Russian planes, banning pro-Kremlin media outlets and also pledging arms to Ukraine
