EV on fire: India's top selling EV - Tata Nexon catches fire

EV fires have been synonymous with two-wheelers but the concern is now extending to cars as a video of an electric car, the Nexon EV from Tata Motors has been filmed on fire in Mumbai. The video shows a Tata Nexon EV engulfed in flames at Vasai and water being hurled at it. 

Tata Nexon EV is the country's highest-selling electric car and the exact reason for the fire remains unknown, though Tata Motors has assured of an investigation.

"A detailed investigation is currently being conducted to ascertain the facts of the recent isolated thermal incident that is doing the rounds on social media. We will share a detailed response after our complete investigation. We remain committed to the safety of our vehicles and their users. This is a first incident after more than 30,000 EVs have cumulatively covered over 1 million km across the country in nearly 4 years." Tata Motors said in a press statement.
