This american automaker had stopped making cars in India 3 years ago... but it's making a comeback.

Ford Motor Company, on Friday, officially submitted a Letter of Intent (LOI) to the Tamil Nadu Government.

After the final meeting with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Ford will be looking to have a manufacturing plant in Chennai

Under the new strategy, the Chennai facility will be adapted to focus specifically on exporting vehicles to international markets, in line with Ford’s broader Ford+ growth strategy.

Ford currently employs 12,000 people in Tamil Nadu and plans to expand its workforce by an additional 2,500 to 3,000 jobs over the next three years.

Ford started its production from 1995 but, in the year 2021, Ford exited the Indian market as it failed to keep up with the competition, and other global economic factors had led to reduction in demand.
