Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited, has regained the title of India's wealthiest individual, surpassing Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group. This change in rankings follows a significant drop in Gautam Adani's wealth due to the Hindenburg Research report, according to the Hurun India Rich List 2023.
Hurun India and 360 ONE Wealth jointly released the 360 ONE Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2023, the 12th annual ranking of the richest individuals in India.
Reliance Industries has made cumulative investments exceeding $150 billion over the past decade, outpacing any other Indian corporation, as stated in the report. During this period, Mukesh Ambani's wealth has surged from Rs 1,65,100 crore in 2014 to nearly Rs 8,08,700 crore in 2023, marking an impressive four-fold increase.
Gautam Adani, the Chairman of the Adani Group, has slipped to the second position with a wealth of Rs 474,800 crore. Cyrus S Poonawalla, the founder of the Serum Institute of India, maintains his third-place position with a total wealth of Rs 2,78,500 crore in 2023.
Shiv Nadar of HCL retains the fourth spot with a wealth of Rs 2,28,900 crore, followed by Gopichand Hinduja & family at Rs 1,76,500 crore. Dilip Shanghvi, the founder and leader of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, occupies the sixth spot with Rs 1,64,300 crore.
The top 10 list also includes LN Mittal & family (Rs 1,62,300 crore), Radhakishan Damani of Avenue Supermarts (Rs 1,43,900 crore), Kumar Mangalam Birla & family of Aditya Birla Group (Rs 1,25,600 crore), and Niraj Bajaj and family (Rs 1,20,700 crore).
Radha Vembu of Zoho has surpassed Falguni Nayyar of Nykaa to become the wealthiest self-made Indian woman in the 360 ONE Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2023. The youngest self-made woman entrepreneur on the list is Neha Narkhede, the co-founder of Confluent, a streaming data technology company.
