India's aviation passenger traffic maintained its momentum in April. In contrast to the same month last year, air traffic increased 22% to 1.29 crore, according to monthly data issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. It stayed below the December 2019 record-breaking monthly traffic of 1.30 crore.

With a market share of 57.5%, IndiGo, widened it's lead by 70 basis points month over month.

Vistara took second place with an 8.7% market share. Tata Group airlines as a whole controlled a market share of 24.9% in April.

Go First, a troubled airline, saw its market share drop even further to 6.4% in April before it filed for bankruptcy earlier this month. SpiceJet meanwhile, saw its market share drop significantly by 60 basis points to 5.8%.
